Favorite benchmark/Hero WOD and why:

If I had to choose a favorite, it would have to be "Glen." We perform "Glen" at CrossFit Earned every 4th of July. It's a simple, eloquent and rugged test of both physical fitness and mental fortitude, but it's also the last Hero workout that Pat Terrin tackled at CFE before his untimely passing just a few short years ago. I will forever remember our high-five on the first run as he proudly shared that he had managed to perform the 30 prerequisite Clean & Jerks at the prescribed weight of 135 pounds, his body weight at the time. He will forever remain a beacon of hope, effort and honor within the walls of CrossFit Earned and beyond. 

Recommended book:

Oh man, so many to list, where does one begin? I would probably suggest the book "The Master Key System" by Charles F. Haanel. A wonderful book which discusses transforming your world in a practical and logical way. Pick it up!

Favorite activity/hobby outside of CrossFit:

Anything outdoors that stimulates a sense of adventure and excitement. I am perpetually addicted to feeling tiny and alive.

What does CrossFit mean to you?

So much, its hard to explain. Basically, it means living a life of freedom. Freedom from decay, decrepitude, disease while maintaining the ability to physically live and enjoy live without restrictions for as long as my mind will allow.

One piece of advice for someone new to CrossFit:

Embrace the journey; it’s a long and lovely trail.
